Michael Bousamra, II, M.D., is UNOS Surgical Director of the Lung Transplant Program and Chair Elect in the Department of Surgery at Jewish Hospital, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville and is President of Drive Out Cancer, Inc.
Dr. Bousamra received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan in Dearborn and his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He interned in general surgery, served his general surgery residencies and completed his Cardiovascular Surgical Research Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He also served his Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Bousamra is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Bousamra is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons (fellow), International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. At Jewish Hospital, he serves on the Lung Cancer Steering Committee, Lung Cancer Committee, Lung Cancer Research Subcommittee (chairman) and Surgical Services Advisor Committee. Bousamra II is the Medical Student Faculty Advisor to multiple students and Faculty Advisor of the Surgery Club at the University of Louisville.

Joseph F. Buell, M.D. is Director of Transplantation with The Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital. He is also a Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Buell graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, in Rochester, New York and received his postgraduate training in general surgery at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. He served a Surgical Oncology Fellowship with the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland followed by a Hepatobiliary, Multi-Organ Transplantation Fellowship with the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, in Chicago, Illinois.
Before coming to Jewish Hospital in January 2007, Dr. Buell was the Assistant Professor of Surgery and Director of the Division of Transplant Surgery at the Israel Penn International Transplant Tumor Registry at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Buell is a member of many medical professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American Society of Transplantation.

Robert D. Dowling, M.D. is Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support and the Heart Transplant Program at Jewish Hospital and the University of Louisville, Director of Translational Research at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (CII), Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville and Director of Heart Transplant Program at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Dowling received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He interned in general surgery, served his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies and completed his Cardiothoracic Surgical Research Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He was also Chief Resident in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Dowling is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Mary Eng, M.D. is a kidney/liver/pancreas transplant surgeon with The Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Eng received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biological Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her medical degree from Rush Medical College, also in Chicago, Illinois. She interned at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois and Detroit Medical Center Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She served her general surgery residencies at Detroit Medical Center Sinai Hospital and Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California. Dr. Eng completed her Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and her Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Eng is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr .Eng is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons (associate fellow), Society of Critical Care Medicine (candidate), Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (candidate) and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

Laman Gray, Jr., M.D. is Director and Professor of Surgery in the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Louisville, Chair in Cardiovascular Surgery at Jewish Hospital and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (CII). Dr. Gray performed Kentucky's first heart and heart/lung transplants. He is nationally-recognized for his work with heart-assist devices. Dr .Gray is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Gray received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a distinction in Chemistry from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He interned and served his General Surgery and Thoracic and Cardiovasular Surgery residencies at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dr. Gray has earned many awards and honors, including, but not limited to, being named Kentuckian of the Year by Kentucky Monthly Magazine, Co-Physician of the Year by the American Heart Association and Distinguished Citizen of the City of Louisville.

Dr. Luis Santiago Marsano-Obando is a hepatologist on the
Liver Transplant Team at Jewish Hospital, a Professor of Medicine
at the University of Louisville, and Director of Clinical Hepatology
at the Carlo H. Tamburro Liver Research Center at U of L. He is
certified by the American Board of Gastroenterology and the American
Board of Internal Medicine.
He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Washington University
(St. Louis), his Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Miami
and his Internal Medicine training at the University of Miami. He
grew up in Lima, Peru, and attended the Universidad Peruana Cayetano
Heredia where he received his M.D. degree in 1980.
Dr. Marsano-Obando came to Louisville and joined The Transplant
Center in 2000. His research interests include nutrition and alcoholic
hepatitis as well as Hepatitis B and C.

Dr. Anthony E. Martin is a hepatologist on the Liver Transplant
Team and an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at the University
of Louisville School of Medicine. He is certified by the American
Board of Gastroenterology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University.
He grew up in Louisville and received his M.D. degree from the
University of Louisville in 1983. In addition to his academic training,
he served as a surgeon in the Persian Gulf War and currently serves
as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Dr. Martin's research interests include treatment of viral Hepatitis
B and C.

Michael R. Marvin, M.D. is a kidney/liver/pancreas transplant surgeon with The Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital. He is the Director of Liver Transplant program and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville. In addition, Dr. Marvin is as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) and is a member on the Quality Assessment and Improvement (QA&I) Committee for Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Marvin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. Dr. Marvin interned in general surgery and served his general surgery residency at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Marvin completed his Research Fellowship at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons and his Renal and Liver Transplantation Surgery Fellowships at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is Board Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is also a diplomat with the National Board of Examiners and the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Marvin has been a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons (associate member and fellow), International Pediatric Transplantation Society, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American Society of Transplantation, The Transplantation Society, Southeastern Surgical Congress and the Association for Academic Surgeons.

Craig J. McClain, M.D.,is a hepatologist on the Liver Transplant
Team at Jewish Hospital as well as a Professor of Medicine and Vice
Chairman for Research, Dept. of Internal Medicine, at the University
of Louisville. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at University
of Pittsburgh Hospital and Hepatology Fellowship at University of
Minnesota Hospital.
Dr. McClain comes to Louisville from Lexington, with experience
in gastroenterology, nutrition, toxicology, and aging with the University
of Kentucky through various positions, including the Director of
Gastroenterology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine
and as Professor of Clinical Nutrition in the UK School of Allied
Health.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty
in Gastroenterology. As an expert on liver disease, Dr. McClain
has been invited to speak at over 130 national and international
conferences. He has authored or co-authored more than 230 articles
in professional journals and books, and has participated or led
many federally funded research projects to study aspects of liver
dysfunction.
Currently, Dr. McClain's research focus includes alcoholic hepatitis,
nutrition and liver disease, and drug trials in peptic ulcer disease
and IBD.

John Wesley McConnell, M.D., serves as the pulmonologist
for the lung and heart transplant program. Dr. McConnell is board
certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases. |

Kadiyala V. Ravindra, M.D. is a kidney/liver/pancreas transplant surgeon with The Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital. He is Director of the Living Donor Transplant and Pancreas Transplant programs at Jewish Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Louisville.
He received his medical degree from the Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry, India. Dr. Ravindra served his general surgery residency at the Jawaharlal Institute of Medical Education and Research and his surgical gastroenterology residency at the Sanjay-Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, India. He completed his Hepatobiliary Surgery Fellowship at St. James’ University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom and his Transplant Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Dr. Ravindra is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association of Transplant Surgeons (candidate), American Transplant Society, Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology and the Indian Association of Study of Liver.
