Research Education and Training Required Training for Study Personnel Covered by FWA 00002167 Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare (JHSMH) Center for Advanced Medicine requires the same training implemented by the UL Human Subjects Protection Program (HSPPO) for studies reviewed for research by the University of Louisville IRB or Western IRB. CITI (Collaborative IRB Training Initiative) Training: Annual training in human subjects protections is required for all researchers at Jewish Hospital and affiliated institutions. Protocol reviews or review actions-including Initial Submissions and yearly continuation reviews-can be approved only if all researchers participating in the protocol have human subjects protection training. Completed CITI Training certificates are to be included in the initial study submission packet and faxed annually to The Center for Advanced Medicine at (502) 587-4630. For more information, click here HIPAA & Research Training: Since April 14, 2003 investigators and key personnel have been required to complete HIPAA & Research Training. We require all key personnel whose projects involve access to protected health information to complete the HIPAA and Research: Fundamentals Training. IRB submissions for new and existing projects involving protected health information will not be approved until all key personnel have completed the HIPAA and Research: Fundamentals Training.
