Clinical Ladder The Clinical Ladders program at Jewish Hospital is designed to recognize and reward staff nurses for their achievement of clinical excellence. Each level in the ladder is built upon successful completion of the competency statements of the previous level. To verify that the nurse has the potential to be successful at the new level, other requirements include clinical experience, recognition of clinical achievement from internal or external groups, education, and/or teaching of other nurses. All of these requirements are in addition to clinical competence. The program is managed by the Clinical Ladder Board, which is comprised of staff nurses throughout the hospital, and the Professional Recognition and Advancement Council. Level III and Level IV nurses who accomplish quarterly unit-based goals are recognized with a monetary bonus.
